A series of surreal lightning strikes in Australia on Monday dialled up the fright factor to 100.

The southern parts of Queensland were smashed by severe storms -- with reports of 28,000 lightning strikes in the region, according to the ABC.

By 6:30 p.m. local time, the lightning strikes captured by storm chasers and residents were something out of this world, as they seemed to trickle like water across the sky.

My cousin, visiting from UK, snapped these photos of #Brisbanestorm tonight. Nothing like a tropical light show!! pic.twitter.com/opQfIGVKXk— Accidental Sunshine (@accidentalsue) November 23, 2015

It was pretty

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));TeneriffePosted by Lucinda Ess on Monday, 23 November 2015
