Watch Freedom Tower Become Tallest Building in Western Hemisphere

New York City's skyline came one step closer to feeling whole again Friday morning as a broadcast antennae was installed atop One World Trade Center, getting the "Freedom Tower" to its final symbolic height of 1,776 feet.

While the attachment process was slow-going, you can watch a compressed version of the footage above.

The state-of-the-art antennae was lifted by a crane to a temporary workstation on the building's roof last week. Helicopters near the building captured the moment in a sweeping and emotional perspective:

Construction of One World Trade Center, now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, will continue until an estimated opening later this year. When finished, the building will be home to offices, restaurants and observation decks allowing majestic views of Manhattan and the surrounding areas:
