Google Friend Connect, the relatively simple service that lets your website’s visitors engage in social activities with their Google accounts (as well as those from AOL, Twitter, Plaxo and others) and contact lists, is adding support for dozens of languages today – 47 of them to be exact.
This means that if you use a Friend Connect widget (or “gadget” in Google’s terms) on your site, you’ll now be able to offer it in the language most used by your visitors, with all of the gadget’s content appearing in the selected language. You can change the language of your gadgets by logging into your Friend Connect account and navigating to the “Site Settings” page.
The languages now supported by Friend Connect are: Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Latvian, Lingala, Lithuanian, Malay, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Oriya, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.
