Rats have a bad reputation. But the creature best known for stealing pizza/spreading disease/carrying the plague has a softer side, too.

Connecticut resident Don Richards was waiting at Brooklyn’s President Street platform when he noticed a plucky young rat approach a passed out man. Richards filmed the rat as he began to crawl over the young man. While the rat's motives are presently unknown, it is suspected that he was looking for snacks.

Even as the vermin crawls all over his body, the man doesn’t wake up until the rat steps on his phone and accidentally takes a flash selfie. By that point, the rat had gone too far.

The rat may be an amateur photographer, but he takes a pretty great selfie. See his artistic process for yourself.
