CBS took some snippets from the 1969 animated special and combined it with audio clips from the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The gag is that Frosty is now voiced by Neil Patrick Harris's womanizing character, Barney Stinson. The result is called Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman.

As funny as the juxtaposition between the children's classic and Stinson's sexually charged (and often hilarious) barbs is, not everyone is happy with the results.

Plenty of comments on the clip's YouTube page insult the concept, CBS and even fans of the show or video. There's lots of hand-wringing about defacing a classic, and more than a few obscenities.

Here's the video:

We think both the clip and the expressed outrage are pretty hilarious. This was clearly something designed for fans of the show who enjoy remixes and mashups -- people who can find humor in stories that existed decades before they were actually born. We count ourselves in this group.

We do have to knock some style points off this mashup in one regard: It's hardly original. In 2006, an editor from the TV show Scrubs (which then aired on NBC, but now airs on ABC) got actors from the show to provide voicework for A Charlie Brown Christmas. The result is both sweet AND awesome.
