The rap-rock formula, first popularized in the 1980s with the "Walk This Way" collaboration between Aerosmith and Run D.M.C., has spawned quite the offspring.
A new cover of Future's "Fuck Up Some Commas" by six-piece band Isles proves that the amalgam of both genres is still alive nearly three decades after "Walk This Way."
Think of Isles as like rap-rockers Linkin Park, but with a female vocalist.
And no, Future's song isn't about beating up punctuation. It's about spending tons of money.
"We are all fans of top 20 and urban music, and we wanted to show our versatility as a band while having fun with combining styles," guitarist Daniel Braunstein told Mashable. "'Fuck Up Some Commas' seemed like a great choice because it was such a challenging piece of music to cover, but we think we pulled it off."
For the uninitiated, Isles also consists of singer Olivia May, rapper Casey Bisetti, bassist Adam Elzarou, drummer Matt Barreca, percussionist AJK and Braunstein.
Isles recently released their video "Home Again," the lead single from their debut EP.
