The ever-increasing cast of characters, allegiances and rivalries on Game of Thrones can get confusing, especially for the show-only variety of Westeros fans.

Not to worry, a new app is going to help you sort everything out, without picking up those pesky books.

A Game of Thrones: Get into the Books, available for free on iTunes as of July 30, promises to provide "specially-written introductions and maps to help you find your way around the story."

The app includes 40 extracts from the books, a sort of training-wheels A Song Of Ice And Fire experience, if you will. It's also spoiler-proof, as users can enter what season and episode of the show they're on and the app will limit the information they see.

If that's not enough, another app called A Game of Thrones Guide goes even deeper, letting users track characters' locations chapter-by-chapter.

Words are wind: Use an app instead.
