Visitors of Dubrovnik, Croatia, where a good portion of HBO's Game of Thrones is filmed, will soon be able to see the Iron Throne in its natural setting.

Dubrovnik Mayor Andro Vlahušić revealed in a Monday interview with local TV station RTL that the city, which once hosted a replica of the throne, is getting "the only original Iron Throne from Game of Thrones." He added that it will be "permanently located on the island of Lokrum as of this summer, at the beginning of June."

The mayor claims the throne was a gift from HBO. However, in a statement to Mashable, HBO said the mayor's statement is "untrue." We're waiting for further clarification on the matter.

Dubrovnik's ancient city walls are the backdrop for much of King's Landing, the capital of Westeros, one of the four continents in George R.R. Martin's fantasy world. The island of Lokrum was used to film the gardens of the desert city of Qarth, seen in Season 2.

Vlahušić also said a museum devoted to Game of Thrones will be opened in Dubrovnik.

Even without all the Game of Thrones-related landmarks, the ancient city of Dubrovnik still stands on its own as one of the most impressive sights in the Adriatic. Located in the south of the Dalmatia region, its well-preserved medieval city walls have attracted an increasing number of visitors in recent years, making it one of the top tourist destinations in Croatia.
