The Quest: It's kind of the perfect summer reality TV show, especially for you Game of Thrones fans looking for a way to get through those otherwise empty "Winter is coming" months.
We've seen teases of ABC's fantasy/reality series, but this clip fully explains exactly what The Quest is going to be: 12 reality contestants, engaged in a real competition that's set in a scripted fantasy world of swords, crossbows and mythical creatures.
With ogres and dragons and goodness-knows-what-else lurking in the woods, contestants will be faced with all manner of fantasy-themed challenges as an epic tale unfolds around them, using real sets, scripted actors and some pretty startling practical special effects.
And The Quest has geek cred: One of its executive producers is Mark Ordesky, a producer on Peter Jackson's original Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other executive producers include Jane Fleming, Bertram van Munster (The Amazing Race and Cops), Elise Doganieri, Rob Eric and Michael Williams (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy).
