In the last two years, HD remakes of classic games became a big business. Thanks to the rise of mobile gaming and download services, many publishers find a lot of value in repurposing classic content for fans who want to relive their old favorites.
In the last few months, we've seen HD versions of horror classics like Silent Hill 2 and 3, beloved older games like Spy Vs. Spy, or amalgamations of the best portions of games, as in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD.
It made us think about what games really deserve HD remakes, and we compiled this list of worthy candidates. Many are older PC titles that are hard to run on modern systems -- making them a financially viable bet for a Steam release. Nearly all of them would benefit from a graphical tweak, and some need modern control schemes. But the stories and gameplay are what make these classics ripe for new audiences.
