Is it just us, or has Google been changing their logo more often? They recently celebrated the life of H. G. Wells after a series of cryptic tweets and alien logos. More recently, they celebrated Chinese philosopher Confucius's birthday and changed the logo again for Google's 11th birthday.
Now another great figure has gotten the Google treatment: Mohandas Gandhi, the pre-eminent Indian independence movement leader who utilized non-violent tactics to spur independence and civil rights movements all across the world. Today, October 2nd, would have been his birthday.
Google's apparent new penchant to honor the birthdays of great figures is welcomed by us. These are men and women that fundamentally changed the world for the better. And since Google is the world's largest web portal, its reach helps spread information and awareness to the masses.
