SINGAPORE -- Malaysian illustrator Charis Loke's "Geeky Baju" project is a cosplayer's dream.

Done in her spare time over the past two years, she's redesigned traditional Southeast Asian outfits like the baju kurung -- Brunei and Malaysia's national dress -- and kebaya -- Indonesia's national dress -- with themes from video games and fantasy novels.

In this series, she was inspired by video games. The Omnitactician and Sharpshooter outfits are modelled after character outfits from the game Mass Effect 3.

Other outfits sport pixel designs, and themes inspired by fantasy novel series like "The Hunger Games" and "Lord of the Rings".

She told Mashable that she has received requests from people keen to buy the outfits, but they remain design sketches for now, and she's keen to collaborate with someone who can make them a reality.

"There are lots of details that probably wouldn't be apparent upon first viewing, or to viewers who aren't familiar with the source. However, I hope that someone who hasn't heard of Katniss or Radagast can still appreciate the designs on an aesthetic level," she said.

Loke has been a freelance illustrator for the past five years, and has a full-time job teaching English and visual art at a secondary school.
