George Lucas hasn't seen the new 'Star Wars' trailer (and doesn't plan to)

George Lucas directed four Star Wars movies and produced all six, so one might assume he would be interested in the direction that J.J. Abrams is planning to take in the seventh.

But as it turns out, Lucas claims that he hasn't even seen the trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII yet -- and doesn't intend to.

Lucas told Page Six that he doesn't know "anything" about the teaser trailer, which dropped Nov. 28, but that he will see the movie "when it's released."

Lucas sold the Star Wars franchise to Disney in 2012 and handed over the reins for the seventh movie to J.J. Abrams in 2012. But it seems as though his enthusiasm has waned -- or else he just wants to keep the element of surprise going.

His reasoning for not watching the trailer is that he likes "going to the movies and watching the whole thing there."
