George W. Bush just won't give up on this whole painting business

George W. Bush is not messing around with this painting thing.

It has been eight months since the No. 43 unveiled his portrait collection of various world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Afghan President Hamid Karzai (as though you could forget). Now, he has painted a subject a bit closer to home: his father, George H.W. Bush.

Bush appeared on the Today Show on Monday to discuss his forthcoming book 41: A Portrait of My Father. He followed the promo by unveiling another portrait of his father -- one crafted with oil paints. It features the father and son next to one another against a shadowy blue backdrop.

Bush told Today's Savannah Guthrie that while painting his father, he was most concerned with getting the noses correct.

He was rather candid about his boredom after leaving politics, too.

"You get this sense of longing that you remain stimulated -- and painting has helped fill that void," he said. (For the record, we're pretty sure his artistic career peaked with puppies.)
