LONDON – Cyclist Geraint Thomas was involved in an unpleasant crash on Monday during stage 16 of the Tour de France that will make your eyes water.
The Welsh Team Sky rider collided with French cyclist Warren Barguil when approaching a bend, which knocked him off-course and sent him careering into an unfortunately-placed wooden pole.
Thomas managed to avoid the pedestrians crowded at the side of the road, but in doing so he connected with the pole head-on, coming off his bike and rolling part-way down the slope beyond the edge of the track.
Luckily Thomas was okay, and managed to get back on his bike and finish the stage.
Thanks for all your messages guys! All good with me luckily!! Wrong place wrong time I guess...— Geraint Thomas (@GeraintThomas86) July 20, 2015
The only casualties were his glasses, and Thomas' partner Sara Elen Thomas was on hand to help in that area.
That was a horrible few minutes. I'll have to find you some new glasses @GeraintThomas86 x— Sara Elen Thomas (@SaraEls90) July 20, 2015
