German soccer pro Karem Demirbay's punishment certainly fits his crime.

After Demirbay made a sexist comment to a Bundesliga 2 referee recently, the league gave him a three-match ban. But his pro club decided that wasn't enough -- and taught him an added lesson in humility.

Demirbay is a midfielder for Hamburger SV, but is currently playing on loan for Fortuna Düsseldorf. It was during a recent game for Fortuna that Demirbay reportedly told a female referee that women have no place in football after she gave him his second yellow card in a match against FSV Frankfurt.

The league suspended Demirbay for three matches, although he argued that his insult was simply a heat-of-the-moment slip-up. But the best punishment would come from his club.

Fortuna Düsseldorf posted a series of photos Saturday showing Demirbay refereeing a girls' youth match as way to help him rethink his comments toward ref Bibiana Steinhaus. Here he is in action.

Guess you could say Fortuna Düsseldorf isn't ~kidding~ around when it comes to holding players accountable. (I'll see myself out.)
