Thousands of people are journeying to a wheat field in Germany to see a giant set of mysterious crop circles.

Located on a Bavarian farmer's field, a balloonist first discovered the intricate design last week. It didn't take long for word to spread online.

Farmer Christoph Huttner, who owns the wheat field near Weilheim, told the dpa news agency Tuesday that he didn't create the circle himself. But he believes students on summer break may have created the 246-foot image in his field by flattening the wheat crop.

According to the news agency, thousands of people have visited the site in the past week. Many have come to sing, dance and even swing pendulums in the giant image. Though crop circles have been part of supernatural lore since the 1970s, scientists say they are often manmade.

Huttner says he's not yet sure whether he will leave the circle in his field, but with all its fanfare, he could definitely make a nice living if he started charging for a peek.
