Fourth grader Maddy Douglas, from Iowa, recently shut down a math problem in her "Common Core" homework assignment for breaking "girl code."
The logic question introduces eight high school boys and girls who go on a series of dates in different combinations (apparently this is the same high school from One Tree Hill) and asks the students to figure out the final dating combination.
Maddy, a wingwoman wise beyond her years, was astounded by the question for breaking the finite rules of womandom.
"I can't answer this problem because my mom says acoording [sic] to girl code you shouldn't date a friends x boyfriend," Maddy wrote.
Her mother, Jenn Douglas, posted the picture of her daughter's homework to HuffPost Parents' Facebook page with the hashtag #girlcodetrumpscommoncore.
Jenn Douglas told The Huffington Post she was "proud" of her daughter's answer, but she did question the appropriateness of a dating-related question on an assignment for children.
"I consider myself to be a completely open-minded type person and as a single mom, try to teach my children about equality and about different types of people they will encounter, but my first reaction was it was not an appropriate question for a fourth grader or really any grade," Douglas said. Several Facebook commentators echoed Douglas' sentiment.
