Some kids would give anything to own 1,000 Barbie dolls, but one little girl wants to give them all away.

Nine-year-old Gianni Graham of Norfolk, Virginia has a lofty goal of collecting 1,000 Barbies to give away to children in homeless shelters and foster care.

Even though Gianni only started collecting just a few days after Christmas, her project has already collected more than 700 dolls, including two brand new ones that she received as gifts. For her, the choice was easy. She didn't even open the boxes or played with them a little before deciding to donate them.

"I feel like girls in shelters should have the same as girls not in shelters," Gianni told WTKR in Virginia.

Her mother, Whitney Graham, set up an Instagram account called @1kbarbiesfor1kgirls in order to keep track of the project. Through social media, she has been posting photos and giving thanks to donors.

Apparently, people from all over the United States have been sending their dolls to the Grahams -- so they are likely to meet (or even exceed their goal) soon. She and her mom plan to deliver the dolls to local shelters and foster homes themselves.

More information about Gianni's goals can also be found on her project's website.
