A surveillance video in Xi'an, China captured footage of a teenage girl falling into a 20-foot-deep sinkhole while she was walking and looking at her cellphone. The clip has gone viral around the world.

The sinkhole was reportedly caused by underground water erosion. In the video, you can see how the sidewalk caved in when the girl walked over a specific spot on the pavement.

Even though she was distracted by her cellphone, technology is not completely to blame in this accident. There was no way for the unsuspecting victim to know about the unstable concrete.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Taxi driver Wang Wei tried helping the girl out after seeing her fall through. The girl and the taxi driver were both rescued from the moving sinkhole by emergency crews shortly after.

China Central Television aired the footage this week, according to The Washington Post.
