"Settle in...and just let the nightmare wash over you." Those are the last words uttered in the trailer for Season 5 of Girls, spoken by the only really sympathetic character left, Ray Ploshansky.

Season 5 finds the girls in the throes of some of their most simultaneously self-actualizing and self-destructive behavior. Hannah is in a relationship with a nice, normal dude -- so naturally, she's restless and doing things like kissing her roommate Elijah with tongue before he leaves for work in the morning. Marnie is about to marry philandering musician Desi. Shoshanna has ditched everyone to live in Japan. Jessa is, as ever, a leaf in the wind.

Friendship is forever complicated. #Girls returns February 21 on @HBO. https://t.co/nJ11i7e1Fv— Girls (@girlsHBO) December 2, 2015

The new trailer embraces its characters difficult and ridiculous qualities, and shows how friendship can be tough when your friends are kind of psycho. Girls returns to HBO Feb. 21.
