Trust us, you can cover pretty much anything in glitter.
It may have been a long time since you've been decked out in your favorite sparkly stuff from Limited Too, but that doesn't mean you can't bring a little glitz back into your life.
Adding some shimmer and shine to your normal, everyday items is the perfect way to make you feel like a fabulous disco fairy every day.
1. Sunglasses
Materials:
A pair of sunglasses
Mod podge
Glitter
Triple thick glaze (spray or paint-on)
Painter's tape
Paintbrush
Step One:
Cover the front and the back of your lenses with painters tape, all the way to the edge of the frames.
Step Two:
Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to your glasses frames. Start with just the fronts first if you're planning on covering all over. Leave the sides bare for now. Let the Mod Podge get a little tacky before you start getting out your glitter.
Step Three:
Either dip or pour on your glitter everywhere you applied your Mod Podge. You might have to use a combination of both techniques to get full coverage.
Step Four:
Repeat steps two and three on the sides of your glasses if you desire. If you still have some bare spots, you can apply another layer of Mod Podge and glitter to coat.
Step Five:
Brush or spray on your triple thick glaze. We used a spray one because we wanted to avoid any glitter getting accidentally spread around before it fully dried.
Once everything is dry, grab your sparkly sunnies and hit the beach (or a rooftop party).
2. Earrings
Materials:
Blank earring posts
Earring backs
Hot glue or Varnish glue
Glitter
Mod podge or Triple thick glaze
A piece of cardboard or styrofoam
Step One:
Poke your posts into a piece of cardboard or styrofoam so they stand straight up. You don't want them to dry lopsided.
Step Two:
Squeeze a tiny amount of hot glue onto the post. Make sure its hot because you don't want it to dry too quickly.
*You can also use varnish glue for this. To do this, mix a generous amount of glitter with your varnish glue and put a dollop onto your posts. The glue will be white when wet and dry clear.
Step Three:
Pour glitter on a safe surface and gently dip your post into the pile. Shake off any excess and allow to dry. It won't take long.
Step Four:
Once it is completely dry, brush a thin layer of Mod Podge or spray on triple thick glaze on top to set.
When your last layer is dry, they're ready to wear.
3. Body Shimmer
Materials:
Body lotion in your favorite scent
Superfine glitter*
Small bowl
Something to stir
*You can also use glittery eyeshadow as a substitute.
Step One:
Start by squeezing your desired amount of lotion into your bowl. You can start with enough for just one application or pour enough to save for later.
Step Two:
Sprinkle enough glitter into your bowl to achieve your desired effect. Whether you want a subtle shimmer or a full-on sparkle is totally your call.
Step Three:
Stir it up! Make sure your glitter is completely incorporated.
Step Four:
Spread it on your skin and enjoy a refreshing scent and a hint of shimmer for the day.
