The new version of Gmail for Android lets you save an email attachment directly to Google Drive.

Other new features include an explanation as to why a message ended up in the spam folder, improved support for languages that are written right to left, and easy access (via a swipe from the left edge) to the side navigation menu.

The new features will be rolling out "over the next few days." You can download the latest version of Gmail for Android over at Google Play.

Google recently announced more than 1 billion copies of Gmail for Android have been installed, making it one of the most popular apps for Android.
