Responding to emails from Gmail's iOS app just got easier.
Google updated the app Thursday with interactive notifications and new features that make it easier to send and and view attachments.

Interactive notifications, which allow users to reply or archive a message from their lock screen, are a particularly welcome addition for longtime Gmail users. Apple first added the functionality to iOS last year with iOS 8, but Google hadn't integrated the feature into its app until now.
Thursday's update also improved the way Gmail handles attachments. You can now send a photo, link or file from within the app you opened it in by selecting Gmail from the share menu. Previously, if you wanted to send a photo for example, you could only attach an image from your camera roll from within the attachment menu inside the Gmail app.
Likewise, when opening an attachment from within Gmail, you can now choose which app you want to open it in. Previously, the only options for saving a photo were either to your camera roll or Drive account.
Though many of Gmail's new features have already been adopted by most major email clients (including Apple's Mail app), they are a significant improvement for power users and those who rely exclusively on the Gmail app.
