Here we go again.

If those posters of white dudes playing Egyptian gods weren't enough to draw eye rolls, the trailer for the upcoming film Gods of Egypt looks flat out groan-inducing. The movie stars Gerard Butler and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Set and Horus, a pair of warring Egyptian deities. Brendan Thwaites plays Bek, a young thief who teams up with Horus for an epic battle against Set.

Chadwick Boseman also stars in the film as Thoth, the god of wisdom.

Many viewers are likening the film and its marketing campaign to last year's Exodus, a heavily-whitewashed Egyptian epic that ended up flopping in its opening weekend.

Gods of Egypt, directed by Alex Proyas, began shooting around March of last year. Filming was well underway when backlash against Exodus kicked up in early August, and the hashtag #BoycottExodus started getting national attention.

Earlier this week, posters released for Gods of Egypt sparked a similar kind of backlash, with Twitter users lambasting the film for starring a largely white cast as ancient Egyptians.

Representatives for Lionsgate have not yet responded to Mashable's request for comment.
