The one and only king of the monsters, Godzilla, is now a special resident and tourism ambassador for Tokyo's Shinjuku ward.

During a celebratory ceremony Thursday, a 171-foot Godzilla head was unveiled at a Toho office, the production company responsible for the 1954 original movie, and an actor in a rubber suit met the mayor of Shinjuku, Kenichi Yoshizumi. He received a sash and all -- but don't call him Miss Tokyo just yet.

"I hear that any town Godzilla destroys on-screen will become prosperous afterwards," Yoshizumi said. "So I hope the next movie will take place in this area."

Toho is shooting a comeback film this year after a decade-long hiatus.
