Watch What Happens When Shoppers Reach for a Gold Razor

Gillette seems to have learned a lesson from TNT's hugely successful "Dramatic Surprise on a Quiet Street" viral video back in April and is using a similar idea to hype an Olympics-themed razor.

In the video, shot in Würzburg, Germany, earlier this month, the brand set up a store display for its ProGlide Golden Edition razor modeled on the three-tier Olympics podium. Unsuspecting shoppers who stepped up to the "gold" to grab one of the razors were greeted with some over-the-top fanfare, including bikini babes, gymnasts, fencers, weightlifters, streams of confetti and a guy in a bear costume (not to be confused with Pedobear.)

If the ad was scripted, no one would care, but consumers seem to love this stuff when it's real or at least purported to be real.
