For the first time since Season 1, Westros has received some love from the Golden Globes.

In 2011, the show earned both a Best Drama Series nomination and, later, a win for Peter Dinklage in the Supporting Actor category, but not since then has HBO's Game of Thrones received kudos from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

That ended Thursday morning when it once again earned itself a spot in the Drama category, up against Downton Abbey, The Affair, The Good Wife and House of Cards.

GoT has had a rough go at major award shows since its debut, mostly earning well-deserved accolades in technical categories -- but not much success winning elsewhere.

In fact, at this year's Emmys, its sole non-technical win was for directing, and at last year's Screen Actor's Guild awards, it lost in the Outstanding Ensemble category to Breaking Bad. As of Wednesday, it's up for the latter category once again.

As a whole, HBO had a successful morning, earning 15 nominations, the most of any network. Those included four for True Detective (with Michelle Monaghan grabbing her first Globes nom ever), three for Olive Kitteridge, three for The Normal Heart, two for Girls, and one for Silicon Valley and Veep, respectively.

But other networks had many reasons to celebrate, too.

The CW earned its first nominations ever after Jane the Virgin found itself in the race for top comedy and star Gina Rodriguez was included in the running for best comedy actress.

Clive Owen's performance in Cinemax's The Knick also earned him a nomination in one of the day's most interesting categories, Best Actor in a Drama Series.

With True Detective in the miniseries and TV movie race -- and, thus, heavyweights Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson taking their fight to that category with Martin Freeman (Fargo), Billy Bob Thornton (Fargo) and Mark Ruffalo (The Normal Heart) -- the Drama Actor category was quite the open field.

In the end, Owen will face off against Dominic West (The Affair), and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), Kevin Spacey, James Spader (The Blacklist), with the latter three nominated for the second year in a row.

Arguably, with Breaking Bad no longer eligible, this would have been a prime year for Jon Hamm to earn his first nomination since 2012, but apparently, the Globes has lost its love for Mad Men, which is about to enter its final stretch of episodes.

In fact, the AMC drama leads our list of biggest snubs of the year.
