Golfer Smashes $50,000 ESPN Camera With Failed Shot

It seems Danish golf pros exist to make the sport just a bit more interesting.

First, there was the fellow who dropped trou to chip his way out of a water hazard back in April. Then on Thursday morning, Thomas Bjorn botched a shot at the British Open, sailing the ball way off course and directly into the lens of a rather pricey ESPN camera.

Check out the video above for a camera's-eye view of the destructive sports fail. Now, via ESPN's Trey Wingo, take a look at the aftermath:

So just how expensive was the now-defunct piece of equipment? Some news reports have priced it as high as $80,000, while this Wingo tweet puts it in the neighborhood of $50,000:

Anything can happen at The Open....Thomas Bjorn just broke a $50,000 dollar camera with a wayward 2nd shot on #1— trey wingo (@wingoz) July 18, 2013

Either way, that's a lot of green.
