Like many Disney/Pixar classics, The Good Dinosaur looks way more emotional than a typical kid's movie.
First, the film's new trailer trailer reminds us of the premise set up in this summer's teaser: “What if the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs missed?” According to the movie, dinosaurs would have continued to rule the earth -- and things would've gotten just a little more complicated when humans evolved.

Next, we're introduced to Arlo (Raymond Ochoa), the titular good dinosaur, who befriends a primitive human whom he names Spot (Jack Bright). Spot is basically a dog -- an adorable, dirty, human dog. He head-butts a snake to save Arlo, runs around fearlessly, and can even follow commands.
Spot doesn’t speak in the trailer, but he and Arlo share inexplicably beautiful adventures -- crossing a canyon, howling at the moon. At the end of the trailer, Arlo feels particularly lonely, missing the family from whom he has been separated. Spot cuddles him -- just like a dog!. The wave of emotion you'll feel while watching it is probably only a fraction of what Disney/Pixar has in store for us.
The film was written by Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve and directed by Peter Sohn.
