Google and the government, hand in hand again. Almost. This time, Google's working on a Sitemap Protocol, which it's hoping will be implemented across the board for government websites.

[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]The bill S. 2321 will be considered tomorrow by a Senate committee. It will actually extend and update the E-Government Act of 2002, which offers guidance and best practices for federal agencies to make their websites more accessible for search engine crawlers. So if you didn't notice, Google is hoping to work with the government to make their sitemaps better, so you won't spend 45 minutes trying to find the section of your state's website that tells you what you need in order to renew your driver's license.
