AdSense Video Units will be available to English-language publishers in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Having been launched in the US over the summer, the video ads are now taking the leap to Europe, and will surely be rolled out on a larger scale across the globe.

You may remember that these AdSense Video Units consist of contextually-based clips that play YouTube content direct from sponsors, or sponsored YouTube clips.

This could prove to be a nice feature, even though it's a slightly surprising move on Google's part, considering the contextually-based manner in which ads are targeted. This also is a slight departure from the advertiser-centric approach to ads, which seems to be still malleable due to the newness of video ads on a large scale. But given the content available for video units, who better to pick targeted content than the publisher?
