Google has introduced an interesting new feature to its Google Apps suite of business applications. While the suite itself is the same as the "standard" version and includes Google Docs, Calendar, Talk, and a Start Page, Team Edition will automatically add any users signing up with an email from the same domain (e.g. [email protected]) to the "team."

This is a neat little trick. Personally, I know one not-so-small company which switched from Exchange to Google Apps, but I also know that a great deal of companies will be very hesitant to do this step, even if it's a financially smart one. With Team Edition, Google Apps spreads virally, thus giving employees of any company a chance to try the suite from the "inside," without the need for an administrator.

Of course, if you want to switch from the Team edition to Standard or Premium, you can always do so, as well as acquire a new domain for the standard price of 10$.
