Well, wait no more: an array of gadgets may be coming, and for some, are already here. A reader at Google Blogoscoped has spotted Google Gadgets on their right hand menu for adding tasks (available already), adding meetings, and strangely enough, an internal feature to search Google employees.
The gadgets are actually already live on Google Calendar pages, but not activated for public use yet. How do we know this? Well, by disabling all of the CSS (the design elements) on a Google Calendar page, you can view exactly what Google has been up to. Thus, it seems that the Google team is testing gadgets internally, but it has now leaked. Take a look at the screenshots below:
So to recap, the gadgets are as follows: Tasks, Googler Search, Jump to Date, Next meetings, Time Zones, and Where Are My Friends. There is also an option to add other Google Gadgets, although the details of this are unknown.
