It was announced today that George Reyes, the Chief Financial Officer of Google, would be leaving his post. Reyes said that he'll remain in his current position until a new CFO has been found and the transition can be an orderly one. Google said they expected this to happen by the end of the year.

Eric Schmidt, Google Chairman and CEO, has been friends with Reyes since the time they worked at Sun Microsystems. "As Google's CFO, George successfully navigated our innovative IPO, the regulatory demands of Sarbanes-Oxley, and the management challenges of scaling a global finance organization." Schmidt said. He also went on to add, "Though we fully appreciate his decision to step back from active management, we'll miss his thoughtfulness, good humor and wisdom."
