Google Chromecast Already Sold Out on Play Store

Just a couple hours after Google announced its new media streaming accessory -- Chromecast -- the dongle sold out initial orders on the Google Play store.

Initially, anyone could purchase the $35 Chromecast device from the Google Play store Wednesday, with expected shipment of 1-2 days. The response was apparently overwhelming: Shipment is now expected for August 2 or 7, as of 2:15 p.m. ET. In some instances of visiting and refreshing the page, it said Google was out of inventory.

The Chromecast dongles includes a free three-month Netflix subscription -- a perk that "subsidizes" the $35 Chromecast price tag down to about $11. The device will also be available through Amazon and Best Buy.
