Google Doodle Takes Us Where the Wild Things Are

Today's Google Doodle is a wonderful animated tribute to Maurice Sendak, an American author and illustrator widely known for his 1963 children's book, "Where the Wild Things Are."

The Doodle is one of the most elaborate animated Doodles we've seen -- the animation goes on for more than a minute, ending with a birthday cake for what would be Sendak's 85th birthday.

Sendak, who was born on June 10, 1928, also wrote "In the Night Kitchen" and "Outside Over There." He has died on May 8, 2012, after suffering a stroke.
