It's another application created in Google's famous 20% spare time; the time that their engineers get to pursue the projects their hearts desire. However, the application is quite rich on features; it offers real-time streaming quotes in your portfolio, quick stock search with auto-suggestion to make it even quicker, recent quotes, stock related news and charts, and it all syncs with your portfolio over on the Google Finance site.
The downside: the application is US-only, which is often the case with finance-based applications, due to the complexity of merging all the stock market and other financial data from many countries in one application. Support for at least some of the biggest world stock markets would be nice, though.
