Germany's got it out for Google. A German court has ordered Google to pay 10,000 euros, which is about $14,000, for using the m.gmail.com domain for mobile search. This has been ruled a violation of a court order in a trademark case.
Google is now using the Googlemail name across Germany, as G-mail is pretty much a no-go. Google lost a previous court appeals case against Germany-based electronic postal delivery service, run by venture capitalist Daniel Giersch, goes by the name of G-mail (short for Giersch mail).
In other German Google news, a German state commissioner has spoken out against Google's acquisition of DoubleClick. Facebook is also having some domain name issues of its own.
