Google is ready to send the upgraded version of Google Glass starting the week of Dec. 30, according to an email Mashable received from the Glass Explorer program.
Google gave owners of Google Glass a one-time option to trade in their old Glass units and upgrade to the new model in November. If you agreed, Google said it would reserve a spot "in line" for the upgrade, with an email to follow when it's ready.

It appears that time is now. The new model seems identical to the old one and is available in the same colors, although it's faster and more durable. Users will also be able to easily adapt the new model with "upcoming" prescription frames (presumably designed specifically for Glass).
The new Glass will also come with a removable earbud, addressing one of the most common complaints about the original: The bone-conducting audio is difficult to hear in any environment louder than a quiet room.
Google will send boxes to current Glass owners who signed up for the upgrade to return their units. Google said they should expect the new model three to five days later. Upgraders also have the option to switch the color of Glass upon upgrading. Watch the unboxing below:
If you're a Glass Explorer and you haven't signed up for the upgrade, you still have time: Google says the window is open for 60 days after you get the email, or until Feb. 5, 2014.
Google still hasn't set a firm date for Glass' availability to general public, although the target time frame is said to be spring 2014.
