Google Launches iPad App for Browsing Catalogs

The new app, called Google Catalogs, is designed for "all major tablet devices" though it is just available in an iPad version now. The app displays the catalogs in rich media. Dozens of retailers, including L.L. Bean, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue are providing content for the app.

Google Catalogs includes features familiar with other tablet apps, like zooming and the ability to share content. But the app also lets you buy content via online stores. It also directs you to nearby brick-and-mortar locations.

Google shuttered a similar program, called Google Catalog Search, in 2009 because of a lack of consumer interest.
