Google maps are getting even more social. After adding the My Maps tab earlier this year, the customization options for individuals to share their favorite places on a map got a lot easier and no longer required a mashup. In an effort to make these personalized maps even more social, Google has added the ability for others to connect with the map creators, through comments and star ratings.

To get this all started, Google first created a special page for every user-created map. It's on this page that visitors can leave comments and ratings on a particular map, and the map creators can see what kind of feedback their maps generate. In order to access the comments page, click on the "ratings and comments" links on the My Maps pages.

Google Maps had already begun to incur more socializing features, such as the inclusion of YouTube videos, wikis and community maps. And this new feedback system for Maps is tied in for map collaborators on an editable map as well, so the new addition has a two-pronged affect on the existing capabilities of Google Maps and their social extent.
