Google Maps Now Have Transit Info

Google just added another important layer of information to their Maps: tram&bus transit lines. Click on the little bus or tram icons and you get quick info about departures from this particular station.

Click on the bubble, and you get much more detailed info on times of departure from the station.

Search for particular stations also works; queries like "Vernon Station, Los Angeles" will get you the goods.

We've spotted this new feature in some European cities like Vienna and Zurich, but not all: for example, Zagreb and Prague aren't included yet. US cities have it too: we've tried out Boston and Los Angeles.

If your city is lacking this info, you can point your transit agency to this website, and if they aren't lazy bums they should be able to work with Google to get their data included.

Finally, some cities allow you to plan trips: you can try this cool feature at www.google.com/transit. An example search gives really good results, but we're sure that you'll be able to make it go crazy and recommend some very weird routes (make sure to let us know if you do).
