Google has taken its YouTube integration another step further, with Google News results now being provided by YouTube content partners, including CBS. Video clips are shown in a YouTube player as well.
This is a natural progression when you consider the syndication deals that many broadcasters and producers have penned with YouTube, creating their own channels and branded pages on YouTube. Companies like Tokyo MX and National Geographic, as well as several sports leagues in Europe have signed on to create these branded pages on YouTube.
Extending these options to Google News could be beneficial for both Google and YouTube, as it could help encourage more content partners by providing additional syndication options. The greatest potential for this new setup is the syndication options for independent news providers and bloggers, as well as customized search options for iGoogle and other start pages, should Google decide to go in this direction.
