Google.org, the search giant's non-profit organization, is launching an initiative called the “Innovate or Die Pedal-Powered Machine Challenge.” The contest aims to encourage inventors to design environmentally friendly bikes that cause zero emissions, and will reward $5,000 to the best invention, and free bikes for the top 5 finalists. Inventors are also asked to submit their inventions via video on a YouTube group that has been setup.

For the contest, Google has partnered with Specialized Bikes and Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
