Google's gotten its patent for its version of a mobile datacenter, where a standard shipping container holds multiple racks of high-powered servers, complete with its own cooling system.

Filed for in December of 2003, the patent has been in the works for some time now. Many are speculating on what tis mobile datacenter could be used for, but when it comes to Google, do we really have to scratch our heads too hard? And even if we do, how far will that get us? There's a gazillion reasons why Google would want a patent on this system. If nothing else, it's a good idea--one that many services could eventually benefit from.

It's also rather similar to Sun's Project Blackbox, which only has one single mobile datacenter, as opposed to Google's multiple, interconnected modules. Other recent Google patents include GPay, and several related to Google Ads and other Apps.
