A new Photos app for Android is coming, and we may have just gotten an early preview of what's in store.

Alongside a new photo-sharing service separate from Google+, Google is expected to announce a new Photos app for Android with better photo management and editing tools at its Google I/O developer conference on May 28.

Newly leaked details as outlined by Android Police show a closer look at the revamped Photos app. To start, users will have the ability to browse photos by date and month. The app will also let you pinch photos when they're viewed in a grid, a feature Apple has had since iOS 7, the report suggests.

Selecting multiple photos is also easier: Users will be able to use a dragging gesture to quickly select more than one photo, as opposed to tapping each one.

The leaked pictures highlight how Google streamlined the editing features with simpler user interface and more intelligent tools. For example, the "cropping interface now snaps to various aspect ratios," reports Android Police.

Lastly, the "Auto Awesome" feature, which lets you add special effects like falling snow and GIFs to your photos will reportedly be deeper, with the ability for "users to "create their own goodies including albums, movies, stories, animations, or collages."

Mashable will be reporting live from Google I/O from May 28 to 29. We'll have more details on the new Photos Android app soon.
