Reaching the 100 million users figure is a huge milestone even for the largest of unicorns, but for Google it's just another day in the office.

On Monday, Google announced that its Photos app has surpassed 100 million monthly active users in five months.

It's been a little easier for Google to reach that number -- not only because of easy sign-up for an enormous Gmail user base, but also because the service is actually a successor of the Google+ photos service. It's still a big accomplishment; for comparison, Flickr -- which has been around since 2004 -- announced in June 2015 it had 112 million users.

Google launched the Photos app in May, giving users unlimited storage space (as long as they limit their photos to 16 megapixels and videos to 1080p resolution). The app does a pretty great job organizing your photos, and can free up your phone's storage space by storing your photos and videos in the cloud. It's available on Android, iOS and the web.

To celebrate the occasion, Google posted a video (below) as well as a number of tips and interesting tidbits about the service. Turns out, people like searching for themselves (and babies) and taking photos of dogs, food and cars. Who could've guessed?
