If Australians want to barbecue this summer to the dulcet tones of the Hilltop Hoods, Google has the playlist for them.

On Wednesday, the company announced it was bringing its specially curated Google Play Music playlists to Australia.

For those Aussies using the app on iOS, Android or web, the platform will show them music collections intended to suit different times of day, moods and activities, which were put together by a "team of music experts," the company said in a statement. The free update will appear automatically for all Australian Google Play Music subscribers.

The new playlists are meant to suit activities Aussies supposedly get up to regularly, like surfing, having a barbecue with mates or heading to the football. Some samples are called "Surfin' Aus," "Beer & a Barbie," and "Around the Campfire." Whether their "The Footy" song collection can surmount the Australian rules football and rugby divide remains to be seen. If it has Cold Chisel's "Khe Sanh" on there, they should be alright.

The playlists can be edited by listeners and downloaded to be listened to offline.

The free service kicked off in the U.S. last October. In June, the company launched a free ad-supported radio service in the U.S. There is no current timeline for bringing Google's free-ad supported radio to Australia, a company spokesperson told Mashable Australia.

A number of subscription music streaming platforms have started offering speciality playlists. In July, Spotify announced it was connecting its entire music library to the Nike+ Running app, which automatically detects the runner's pace and generates a suitable lineup of music.
