Apple Music won't be available for another week but music listeners now have a new free streaming service to consider: Google's Play Music.

The company added a free tier to its service on the web and on its iOS and Android apps, Google announced Tuesday.

Like other streaming services that offer a free version, Google' new tier for Play Music is ad-supported on the web and its mobile apps. Rather than an on-demand model like Spotify, Google's new free offering will focus on a selection of curated stations, based around genres, moods, activities or specific albums and songs.

To power these stations, Google is taking advantage of last year's Songza acquisition whose team has helped create the thousands of free stations available on the service.

"Our team of music experts, including the folks who created Songza, crafts each station song by song so you don’t have to," Google's product manager for Play Music, Elias Roman, wrote in a blog post Tuesday. "If you’re looking for something specific, you can browse our curated stations by genre, mood, decade or activity, or you can search for your favorite artist, album or song to instantly create a station of similar music.

The stations are also available to the service's paid subscribers, who also get on-demand access to Google's music catalog (and yes, that includes Taylor Swift.

The new free tier of Google Play Music is available now in the United States on the web and will be rolling out to the company's iOS and Android apps later this week.
